Frequently asked questions
How quoting works on P1B Quotes. Tap a question to see the answer.
Getting started
What is P1B Quotes?
It's how Priority One Building Services sends out work. You see the job, its scope and site photos, and send us your price, all in one place.
How do I choose which jobs I get?
In Your details, choose your trades and the states and areas you work in. We only invite you to jobs that match.
Can I change my trades or areas later?
Yes, any time, in Your details.
Invitations
Why do I have to accept before I can quote?
Accepting tells us you'll price the job. You can look through the scope and photos first.
What if I don't accept in time?
The invitation may be offered to another contractor, so please accept or decline by the date shown.
I've been invited for one trade. Can I price other lines?
Yes. You're welcome to price any line in the scope.
Pricing
How should I price?
Line by line, by trade, or as one lump sum. We recommend line by line or by trade.
Why not one lump sum?
A lump sum covering more than one trade is accepted or declined as a whole. For example, if you quote carpentry and painting as one lump sum and we decide to use our own carpenters on the job, your whole quote is declined, painting included.
A line isn't my work. What do I do?
Leave it blank. If you're pricing by trade or as one lump sum, press Leave out on that line.
How do I price waste disposal?
Only price the waste from your own work. Several contractors can each be awarded waste.
Are prices ex GST?
Yes. Every price you enter is ex GST.
Is my draft saved?
Yes, as you go. We only see your quote once you submit it.
Can I change my quote after submitting?
Yes, while quoting is still open. After it closes, you can still send a revised price if the site differs from the scope and photos.
Does anyone else see my price?
No. Quotes are never shared with other contractors.
What should my price include?
Everything needed to complete the lines you price: labour, materials if you're supplying them, equipment, travel and the waste from your own work.
Should I supply materials?
Quote whatever suits you. For smaller works, such as painting or skirting boards, it's generally better to price supply and install. For big-ticket items, Priority One will generally supply.
How long should my price hold?
Choose how long your price holds when you submit your quote. Jobs can take a few weeks to start, because work can't begin until the customer has paid their excess and signed.
On site
What if the site is different from the scope when I arrive?
Raise it with your supervisor before you do the extra work, with photos of what's different. No legitimate variation will be declined.
I found hidden damage once I started. What do I do?
Take photos and raise it with your supervisor before going further. No legitimate variation will be declined.
Can I visit the site before I quote?
Quote from the scope and photos on the job page, and ask a question if you need more information. If your quote is successful, you can visit the site to confirm your price, or just get stuck in.
The customer asks me for extra work. Can I do it?
Raise it with your supervisor first. Anything outside your work order needs their OK.
Who do I deal with once I have the work order?
Your supervisor. They'll contact you when you're successful, and they're your contact for anything on site.
Questions and results
I have a question about the job.
Use "Ask about this line", or ask about the whole job. You can add several questions to a list and send them together, and we'll answer on the job page.
What happens after quoting closes?
The job goes to the supervisor for allocation. Work orders are issued shortly after, and if you're successful the supervisor will contact you.
Will I be told if I wasn't successful?
No. We don't send outcome notices. If you haven't heard from the supervisor, the work has gone elsewhere.
How do I get paid?
Send your invoice to accounts@p1b.com.au. Every invoice must quote a matching work order number.
